About Representative Ruiz
Raul Ruiz, M.D., represents California’s 25th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. A physician by profession, Ruiz was first elected to Congress in 2012 and took office in January 2013.
Ruiz was born in Zacatecas, Mexico, in 1972 and grew up in California’s Coachella Valley. He graduated from Coachella Valley High School before earning his bachelor’s degree from UCLA. He later earned an M.D., a Master of Public Policy and a Master of Public Health from Harvard University. Before entering Congress, Ruiz worked as a physician and served at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine.
