Everybody likes winning something.
From time to time, RivCo Life may offer free giveaways, prize drawings, contests, and other promotions for our readers and the communities we serve.
The following general rules apply to RivCo Life promotions unless different or additional rules are provided for a particular giveaway or contest.
No Purchase Necessary
No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win a RivCo Life giveaway or prize drawing.
Making a purchase, subscribing to a paid service, donating money, or otherwise providing payment will not improve your chances of winning.
RivCo Life will never require a winner to pay a fee to receive a legitimate prize.
Eligibility
Unless otherwise stated in the rules for a particular promotion, RivCo Life giveaways are open to legal residents of the United States who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry.
Some promotions may be limited to residents of Riverside County, California, or to particular communities within Riverside County. Any geographic restrictions will be clearly stated with that promotion.
Employees, contractors, and individuals directly involved in administering a particular promotion, along with members of their immediate households, may be excluded from participation.
Additional eligibility requirements may apply to individual promotions.
How to Enter
Entry instructions will be provided with each giveaway or contest.
Depending on the promotion, entry may involve completing an online entry form, submitting information requested by RivCo Life, participating through an approved social-media channel, or another free method described in the promotion.
Unless otherwise stated, each person is limited to one entry per promotion.
Automated entries, duplicate entries, fraudulent entries, entries submitted using false identities, or attempts to manipulate a promotion may be disqualified.
Promotion Period
Each promotion will state when entries begin and when entries close.
Entries received before or after the stated entry period may not be eligible.
RivCo Life is not responsible for entries that are lost, delayed, incomplete, misdirected, corrupted, or not received because of technical problems.
Winner Selection
For giveaways and sweepstakes based on chance, winners will ordinarily be selected at random from all eligible entries received during the promotion period.
For contests involving skill, creativity, writing, photography, or another judged activity, the winner may be selected according to judging criteria announced with the contest.
The method of winner selection will be identified in the rules accompanying the individual promotion.
Odds of Winning
For random drawings, the odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received unless otherwise stated.
Winner Notification
Potential winners will be contacted using the contact information provided with their entry or through another method specified in the promotion.
A potential winner may be required to respond within a specified period and provide reasonable information necessary to verify eligibility and deliver the prize.
If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to respond within the stated period, is determined to be ineligible, or declines the prize, RivCo Life may select an alternate winner.
Prizes
The prize or prizes available in each promotion will be described in the individual promotion announcement or official rules.
Prizes generally cannot be transferred, substituted, or redeemed for cash unless RivCo Life specifically permits otherwise.
If an advertised prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond RivCo Life’s reasonable control, RivCo Life may substitute a prize of comparable value when appropriate.
Winners are responsible for any federal, state, or local taxes or other obligations resulting from acceptance of a prize unless otherwise required by law.
Local Prize Pickup
Some RivCo Life giveaways may involve prizes provided by local businesses, restaurants, organizations, event organizers, or community partners.
When local pickup is required, that requirement will be disclosed with the promotion.
Failure to claim a locally awarded prize within the specified period may result in forfeiture and selection of another winner.
Sponsored and Donated Prizes
Businesses and community organizations may occasionally provide or donate prizes for RivCo Life promotions.
Unless otherwise disclosed, providing a prize does not give the sponsoring organization control over the winner-selection process.
RivCo Life may identify and acknowledge businesses or organizations that provide promotional prizes.
Publicity
Where permitted by law, acceptance of a prize may allow RivCo Life to announce the winner’s name and general city of residence in connection with the promotion.
Additional photographs, interviews, testimonials, or promotional use requiring additional permission will be handled as appropriate.
Privacy
Personal information collected for a promotion will be handled according to the RivCo Life Privacy Policy and any additional disclosures provided with the promotion.
Information collected for a giveaway will not automatically enroll an entrant in unrelated marketing communications unless the entrant separately agrees to receive them.
Social Media Promotions
A RivCo Life promotion may occasionally be advertised or conducted in part through Facebook, Instagram, X, or another social-media platform.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, such promotions are sponsored and administered by RivCo Life and are not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with the social-media platform.
Participants are also responsible for complying with the applicable platform’s rules.
Fair Play
RivCo Life wants its giveaways to be fun and fair.
We reserve the right to disqualify entries involving fraud, deception, manipulation, automated entry systems, multiple identities, tampering, harassment, or other conduct that undermines the fairness or integrity of a promotion.
Modification or Cancellation
RivCo Life reserves the right to modify, suspend, postpone, or cancel a promotion when circumstances beyond our reasonable control make it impossible or impractical to conduct the promotion fairly or as originally planned.
If that occurs, we will make reasonable efforts to inform participants.
Release and Limitation of Liability
By participating, entrants agree that RivCo Life, its owners, contributors, promotional partners, and prize providers are not responsible for injuries, losses, damages, or expenses arising from participation in a promotion or the acceptance or use of a prize, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
Prize manufacturers, businesses, and other third parties remain responsible for their own products and services.
Decisions
RivCo Life’s decisions concerning eligibility, administration, rule interpretation, winner selection, and other matters relating to a promotion are final to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Individual Promotion Rules
Every RivCo Life promotion may have additional rules concerning eligibility, entry periods, geographic restrictions, prizes, entry methods, winner selection, or other conditions.
If the rules for a particular promotion conflict with these general rules, the specific rules published for that promotion will control.
