About Representative Takano
Mark Takano represents California’s 39th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was first elected to Congress in 2012 and took office in January 2013.
The district includes Riverside, Moreno Valley, Jurupa Valley and Perris, making Takano a federal representative for several communities within RivCo Life’s coverage area.
Takano was born and raised in Riverside and graduated from La Sierra High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in government from Harvard College in 1983.
Before entering Congress, Takano worked as a teacher in the Rialto Unified School District. He was elected to the Riverside Community College District Board of Trustees in 1990 and later served as president of the board.

He also serves as a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.
